Common faults

Problems we fix most often

Find the one that sounds like yours. Each shows what the technician looks at first.

01

Water won't drain

This is the most common call we get. Usually it's a blocked pump filter: coins, hair clips, tissue, or the odd sock that slipped past the door seal. If the filter is clear, we check the drain hose for kinks and test the pump itself. A pump that hums but doesn't move water has usually failed.

02

Drum won't spin, or spins slowly

Often this is the machine protecting itself. One heavy towel or a duvet can throw the load off balance, and the machine refuses to spin. If the load is fine, we look at the drive belt (on belt models), the motor brushes and the motor control board.

03

Door won't open, or won't start because of the door

The door lock has a small heated latch that releases after the cycle. In older machines it wears out, and the machine either won't lock or won't release. We replace the lock and, if needed, the door hinge or handle.

04

Machine won't fill with water

We check the tap first, then the inlet filter screen. In buildings with sandy or rusty water lines, that small mesh clogs more often than you'd think. If water still doesn't come in, it's usually the inlet valve.

05

Loud banging or grinding during spin

Banging usually means worn shock absorbers or suspension springs. A rumbling, grinding noise that gets louder as the drum speeds up points to drum bearings. Bearings are a bigger job, and on some models the cost gets close to a new machine. We'll tell you straight if that's the case.

06

Leaking from the front or underneath

We check the door seal for tears and trapped objects, the detergent drawer, the hoses and the pump housing. A torn door seal is a common fault on front loaders and is a straightforward replacement.

07

Clothes come out cold, or the cycle takes hours

This is often the heater. Hard water builds scale around the element until it burns out. When the heater fails, some machines keep trying to heat and the cycle drags on far longer than normal.

08

Error code on the display

Tell us the code and the model number when you call. It narrows things down before the technician arrives, so the right parts are more likely to be in the van.

What the technician does

No visit or inspection fee. Nothing is replaced until you've heard the price and agreed to it.

  1. Asks what happened, and when it started.
  2. Runs a short test cycle where it's safe to do so.
  3. Checks the likely parts first: filter, hoses, door lock, pump, heater.
  4. Tells you the fault, the part needed and the full price.
  5. Repairs it once you agree, then runs the machine again to make sure it's working.
Care tips

Keeping a washing machine healthy in the UAE

Clean the pump filter every month or two

It's behind the small flap at the bottom front. Put a towel down first, because water will come out.

Leave the door and drawer open after washing

The humidity here makes door seals grow mold quickly.

Run a hot empty cycle with descaler

Every few months. It helps protect the heater from hard-water scale.

Don't overload

Packing the drum wears the bearings and shocks much faster.

Level the machine

A machine that rocks during spin wears itself out. Adjust the feet until it stands firm.

Questions

Washing machine questions

Something else? Call or send a WhatsApp and ask.

Is it worth repairing an old Daewoo washing machine?

Usually yes for pumps, door locks, valves, seals and heaters, since those are reasonably priced parts. For bearings or a main control board on an older machine, it depends on the price of the part. We'll give you the figure and let you decide.

Can you repair it the same day?

Most common faults, yes, if the part is in stock. Some parts for less common models have to be ordered.

There's water stuck in the drum. Can I open the door?

Don't force it. Switch off the machine, drain the water through the pump filter into a tray, then wait a couple of minutes for the lock to release. If it still won't open, call us.

Do you repair other brands too?

Yes. This page is about Daewoo, but our technicians work on most washing machine brands sold in the UAE.
