Most of the time this is a blocked filter. Food, glass and labels collect in the filter cup under the bottom spray arm. If it's clean, we check the drain hose, the sink connection and the drain pump. A dishwasher hooked up to a new sink trap sometimes never drains properly because the knock-out plug was never removed.
We check the spray arms first. Their small holes clog with scale and food bits, especially with UAE tap water. Then we look at the wash pump, the water level and whether the detergent dispenser is opening.
This is hard-water scale. Check the salt and rinse aid are topped up, and that the softener setting matches your water. If it continues, the softener unit may need attention.
We check the tap, the inlet hose filter, the inlet valve and the float switch. A stuck float can make the machine think it's already full.
On models with a heating element, a failed heater or thermostat is the usual cause. Low rinse aid makes drying worse on any machine.
Common causes are a worn door seal, a cracked spray arm, loose hose clamps, or too much soap. Using hand-washing liquid instead of dishwasher detergent will flood the floor with foam.
